Take a stroll through summer's bounty!
Farmer's markets are coming to life for the summer throughout the Northern Hemisphere. Teeming with the fresh bounties of spring rains, visiting a farmer's market to stock up on seasonal offerings is the perfect recipe for staying both active and healthy!
To inspire you, throughout June, we will bring you weekly highlights of some of the best markets around the globe and a recipe from the diverse food cultures they help fuel.
Tsukiji Fish Market (Tokyo, Japan)
The Fish Market at Tsukiji is a site not to be missed. The Inner Market once boasted the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world, with daily auctions of tuna that were a spectacle to behold (and notoriously difficult for the public to access). While the auction relocated in 2018, the spectacle of the Outer Market remains host to some of Tokyo's best and freshest sushi. Each morning vendors hawk the myriad bounties of the Sea of Japan to the general public. Take a cue from locals, and get there first thing to experience a traditional Tuna Temaki for breakfast!

Tuna Temaki (traditional sushi hand roll with raw tuna)
While preparing other forms of sushi may be daunting to the home cook, the rustic appeal of the temaki (hand roll) technique make this dish an easy win for an authentic Japanese culinary experience in minutes. The raw tuna is the star of the show, so make sure you source the highest quality, sushi grade tuna available at your local fish market.
