With crisp air filling your lungs, there's perhaps no more enjoyable seasonal pleasure than taking a stroll under a spectacular canopy of fall foliage.
Stay tuned on Foray Fit throughout October as we bring you weekly highlights of some of our favorite accessible paths around the country to take in the colors of the shifting seasons.
The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, Ohio
No matter where you find yourself in the state of Ohio, chances are you're within distance of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
Stretching across the entire state from Cleveland to Cincinnati, the Towpath trail offers over 280 miles of accessible, paved trails through land formerly occupied by rail lines and canals. It's easy to join the over 2.5 million Americans who walk, bike, hike, or run a portion of the trail annually.
The trail varies extensively in scenery across the state—offering something for everyone—but the most popular portion is the 110 mile span through Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Ohio & Erie Canal National Heritage area in the northeast of the state.
While we are fans of many stops along the extensive path, a highlight is the stunning Brandywine Falls, located off a short (accessible!) connector boardwalk in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
